David John Carmos Ph.D.

1980s-90s - During the '80s and '90s David continued his research into ancient healing concepts, training medical physicians specializing in acupuncture for the treatment of stress related disorders, medical hypertension, migraine headaches, and rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis. This was conducted using the MARS© system as the diagnostic/therapeutic approach. During this period he performed more than eighteen thousand acupuncture and body alignment sessions, most of whom were recommended by their medical physicians.

The MARS© system was designed and developed by David Carmos over the past thirty years. It is a system of diagnosis and treatment using palpation of the webbing of the hand (not the Ho-ku point) to diagnose, and using either acupressure or acupuncture to treat most any bodily condition. Through the palpation of the webbing of the hand, every imbalance in the body may be instantaneously located using this system.

David has also presented lectures and seminars at the Whole Life Expo in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and New York. During the first half of the eighties, David lectured in Dallas, Texas, teaching anatomy, physiology and yoga as a therapeutic modality at the newly opened Alphabiotic Center, an alternative therapies college.

During 1980 he hosted Just for the Health of It out of San Francisco, Ca., a live call-in talk show on health oriented subjects. Many of the most prominent speakers and authors in the health field were interviewed by David on the show, which was broadcast in two formats, 30 and 60 minutes. Resigned to locate to Dallas, Texas to teach at the Alphabiotic Center and conduct further research while serving on the Board of Director's of the Texas Health Freedom Council in Austin.

David graduated in 1979 from the New England School of Acupuncture, the nation's oldest accredited acupuncture college. During this time period he also presented lectures and seminars on ancient healing systems including the therapeutic aspects of Yoga, Shiatsu, yin-yang and the meridians of acupuncture, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Duke University School of Medicine.

Prior to this he presented seminars at Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on Oriental Medicine and Ancient Healing Techniques. As part of a ten teacher retinue, David was the only American born teacher. This was interspersed with his hosting and co-producing five television mini-series for Miami-Dade Community College on Ancient Healing concepts, including acupuncture, shiatsu, acupressure, fasting, and the therapeutic aspects of Yoga. These were designed to be used as learning resources for college level training, and were networked to colleges throughout the United States.

From 1970 to 1978 he studied the Japanese concepts of yin-yang, meridians, macrobiotics, shiatsu and acupuncture at the East-West Centre in Boston, where he also taught Yoga as a therapeutic modality from a yin-yang standpoint. From 1970-75 David specialized in Chinese art symbolism and motives, while operating as Director of the Howland-Burseley Manor House Museum on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

From 1966-70 David did guest lecturing at Northeastern University, Emerson College, Fisher Junior College, Pine Manor Junior College, Brandeis University, Chamberlain College and Harvard University, while designing corrective physical education at Boston University's Sargent College, School of the Allied Health Professions, using the therapeutic aspects of Yoga as the modality. David taught there from the fall of 1966 until he resigned in the spring of 1970, to enter the fine arts business, leading to the Directorship of an historical museum.

1965-66 - taught Yoga in Beverly Hills, Ca. for beauty and conditioning to a mainly theater clientele.
